TMOTCS: SAVED TO GROW
While it is a very wonderful privilege to be saved from sin and become members of the family of God, it is also very important that we should grow in Grace and Knowledge of our Lord Jesus (2 Pet 3:18). We are not to remain stagnant but to make progress unto perfection of our faith (Eph 4:13). Growing in grace is to grow in our christian life and in our love for the Lord and be conformed to His image daily until when we see Him as He is (1Joh 3:2)
The most important need in the life of the unconverted is to become born again, while the most need of a believer is to grow in grace. New Converts must become healthy children of God and grow up to maturity. They are not to remain Babes and spiritual dwarfs. We are born in Christ to make progress in our Christian life, in spiritual experience and in the knowledge of the Saviour. Growth is an inward change and progression; when we have True Growth it will be seen in our outward life.
The evidence of growth in grace starts from when there is less of Self and more of Christ in all we do (John 3:30). There will be a desire for life of righteousness and compassion for the lost through soul-winning activities. We shall not be moved by the trials and testings of life but will always rest upon the promises of God. We will work for the Lord in any capacity and have regular devotion with Him. We will be ministering to the needs of others and will never be tired of growing until death or the day of the Lord; whichever comes first (Phil 1:6).
Note: A prayerless Christian will always be a stunted Christian (Ps 55:17, Eph 3:17-19).
