TMOTCS: FINDING STRENGTH IN THE LORD IN TIMES OF TROUBLE
Trouble is no respecter of persons (Job 14:1) and it is always a good thing to know what to do in time of trouble. When trouble comes and we become helpless, the Lord is always there to help out. When David was greatly distressed, he found strength in the Lord his God (1 Sam 30 :6). God is our refuge and our strength, a very present help in trouble; therefore we will not fear, even if the earth is removed and the mountains are carried into the midst of the sea (Ps 46:1-2).
No matter what the troubles are, the Lord promised to deliver us from all of them. Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him out of them all (Ps 34:19). Whether the troubles have to do with our personal life or with something else; we need not worry but trust in God. We are not to think that God does not love us when trouble comes across our path. God only permits the testings and trials of life for His glory and for our good (Rom 8:28).
However, one thing that God is seeking in our lives when in trouble is implicit confidence in Him. He wants us to believe and trust Him and to find strength in His promises. We are to rest upon the assurance that He is God and nothing is too hard for Him to do. So, we are to recall His past mercies and turn to Him for deliverance (Ps 69:17); always acknowledging His goodness (Ps 27:5). Faithful is He that promised (Heb 10:23); has He said and shall He not do it?
