TMOTC: THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS
Jesus has commissioned Christians and given them the message of the cross. This message can never be suppressed nor silenced. Though the haters of Jesus Christ and the governments of this world may try relentlessly to squash the truth of the Gospel and constantly violate the rights of Christians, God’s Word will prevail in the end. Jesus said, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then shall the end come.” (Matt 24:14)
God’s Word can never pass away unfulfilled. “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” (Matt 24:35). Apostle Paul wrote, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Cor 1:18). For since the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God, through the foolishness of the message preached, to save those who believe. (1 Cor 1:21)
So, the message of the cross is simple. It says the humanity has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. God required a sacrifice to pay the prize for sin. Jesus gave His life on the cross to pay the prize and so, the prize has been paid. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, and whoever believes in Him and His resurrection from the dead will be saved. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Rom 10:9). This is the message of the cross.
