THE MARKETPLACE.
The world is a marketplace and people come to the market to buy or to sell. So, we are all in the market in this world for one purpose or another and when the market time is over, we will all go back home one after the other. Some may leave early and some later, but at the end of market all will return home at one time or the other, no matter how well we faired or not. Ironically, this marketplace called the world is full of sins and sinful activities. It is not a permanent home but a dwelling market place from where we will return home at the close of business. However, we are not expected to return home the same way as we came. Usually, we must be able to return home from earthly journey with testimonies. In the scripture, Jesus promised to bring back home His people to Himself as joint heirs of the heavenly home. You and I are joint heirs with Christ as promised by Him if we accept Him as Lord and Saviour and abide in Him to the end in obedience and righteousness of life. That promise is the hope that sustains us in our worldly journey here on earth, giving us the assurance of glorious life back home in heaven where many mansions have been prepared ready for us.
The fulfillment of God’s promise through Christ is to bring all the righteous back home victoriously to a place of everlasting dwelling. This new home is more than a physical place or a geographical location. It is a spiritual home of wholeness, joy, and peace. It houses love and union with God and only the redeemed will have a place in it. The journey home is not necessarily easy or without struggle. To the contrary, the journey home always brings us through struggles and tribulations all through to the Cross at Calvary, leaving behind the past lies, the deceptions of riches, temptations, filthiness of all kinds and all manners of sins and following the Lord whole heartedly. Like the biblical Jacob, we have to wrestle and prevail! The Scripture says What does it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?; (Matt 16:26). Therefore, whether we faired here in the world or not, we have to consider our ultimate return journey home because it will amount to double jeopardy if you lose in this world and lose again in the world to come.
This world is a place of struggle, wounds, pains and darkness where we limp through life without trust and presence of blessings. It is a place of ordinariness of life, work, family, and marriage. Here we spend days after days, weeks after weeks, years after years , and a lifetime of prayers and activities; always doing what seemed humanly right but not seeing results. But thank God that a new day is dawning and there is a blessing for the godly. God is faithful and He has provided the way of the Cross for us and we can now move forward. By the Way of the Cross, we are blessed, renamed, and made a new person; free to cross over and go home. There is no doubt that we all want to go back home at the close of business. After all, there is no place like home and it is the Way of the Cross alone that leads home. Don’t get lost in this world and end up in hell fire. Embrace the Cross and be sure of getting home safely. Jesus is waiting for you to lead you home without missing the way. You must be born again to be able to return home to heaven and not to hell fire; (John 3:3).
