HAVING THE RIGHT ZEAL.
There is no doubt that we are not living in ordinary days. We are in fact at the start of the end-time! A time much closer to the return of Christ to rapture His church. Although no one knows exactly how far off is the event from now, the end-time signs abound everywhere; signalling the coming of Christ to rapture the Saints of God. Therefore, believers must be zealous for souls for the Lord now, more than any time in the past. We are to be vessels of honour and great tools in the hand of God to populate His kingdom, for many to partake in the event. The scripture says in the book of Romans that “For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” (Rom 10:2-4). This scripture passage is a great message for all believers to take to heart. Having righteousness of Christ will empower us with the right zeal to occupy for Him. This means, our zeal and activities must be centred on the gospel of Christ, His birth, His earthly ministry, His death for our salvation, His resurrection and ascension to heaven and His coming back to rapture the church and to judge and rule the world.
Because of these coming events, we are not to have wrong zeal that is unproductive. We need to be fueled by the Spirit of God. Our zeal for the work of God must not be based on the law, self-effort, works, and self-justification but on strict obedience to the Lord and His command. When Jesus was in this world, the zeal for His Father’s work consumed His entire life. Today, our precious time, talents and resources are being wasted, on daily basis, on the perishable values of this world, against things of eternal values. We fail to realize that we are merely passing through this present world of vanity on our way to the real world of eternity. To be relevant as followers of Christ, believers must be prepared to submit to His righteousness, committing our lives, time and resources with consuming zeal for the furtherance of heavenly kingdom. We are called and we must call others to the kingdom of God so as to depopulate the kingdom of Satan before Christ’s second coming. Jesus encouraged his followers to always be ready. He taught us that, there will remain alive many of the present church-age generation during His comeback. We are the church-age generation and we are witnessing the signs of times, and must start to live fervently in the light of His return.
Having realised the truth of the coming prophecies such as the rapture, the Antichrist reign, the millennial reign of Christ, the war of Armageddon, the white throne judgment and the everlasting kingdom and reign of Christ; we are to get prepared and stand firm in the faith. We are to put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, we will be able to stand our ground; (Eph 6:12). Jesus said that when the signs of the end-time events start to happen, such as described in the gospels, then “stand and lift up your heads, for your salvation is near” (Luke 21:28). The closing years of church-age will be the best of times for many and the worst of times for others; depending on whether we are for Christ or we are against Him. God wants to enable you and I to live in a greater anointing of the Spirit with zeal and commitment, like the apostles in the days of the Pentecost. He also wants us to be able to cope and overcome the evils of the end of times that could threaten our faith. So, now is the time to grow in faith and prayers, having the right zeal in order not to lose focus on the Lord. We should get prepared now to be joyful on that day, when the Lord will split the sky to rapture His Saints in the clouds of glory.
