FATALITY OF SIN

Sin is committed when we act contrary to the laws and instructions laid down by God, the Creator. It is an act of rebellion against the almighty God, Who in His wisdom, spelt out His commandments to make human beings happy, fulfilled and live a lifestyle pleasing to Him all the time. The ability to discern good from bad is made possible by the Spirit of God in man, which creates a conscience in him to know what is right and what is wrong. Unfortunately, many people have always ignored their conscience and pleased themselves all the time such that they have completely lost the divine sense of discernment and are now taken over by the spirit of devil to do whatever is pleasing to themselves at the expense of God’s instructions. They completely ignore God and His commandments and get soaked in sins and worldly pleasures. They continue to bear the crushing weight of sin all about; undermining the punishment for sin which is death. The death of sin is fatal and it is two-fold; an impending physical death and a spiritual death by eternal separation from God. All sinners will end up in eternal damnation if they repent not. Jesus says “I tell you … unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”- Luke 13:3. Also, He says “If you love me, you will keep my commandments“. -John 14:15.

Satan has led humankind astray into sins and place obstacles in his path but God in His mercies provided a way out from the dungeon of the dragon for mankind. “All, like sheep, have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and God has laid on Him the iniquity of us all”. – Isa 53:6. When sin has a free course in Man’s life, it kills him not only spiritually but also physically too. When a man is dead spiritually, he is not bothered about the weight of sin in his life anymore because whoever is given over to sin will not be sensitive to its pressure. Although the unrepentant may pretend he carries no burden of sin in his life, the truth is, he carries it in his heart continually because nobody can wish away the weight of sin by pretence. No person born of a woman can deliver himself from the captivity of Satan, Sin and Self and no one can bear the weight of sin for too long without buckling under its yoke and get crushed by it. So, God made Christ the Sin-bearer for man. Jesus bore the heavy weight of sin to Calvary to give us a new lease of life in God. Therefore, our best defence against Satan and Sin is to repent our sins, accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour and remain obedient to the commandments of God all the time. Without Christ, there is no salvation for humanity. – Acts 4:12.

When we sin and keep it to ourselves as a secret, we begin to feel bad. We will feel worse than when we carry a heavy weight for a long time with burdens of guilt weighing heavy on our minds. The Psalmist said “When I kept silent, my bones grew old through my groanings all the day long. Day and night, Your hand was heavy upon me, my vitality was turned into the drought of summer.” – (Ps 32:3-4). This means there is no rest of heart for the sinner. The book of 1John 1:9 tells us “if we confess our sin, God will forgive us and cleanse us”. So, if we feel guilty about our lifestyle, we need to go to God in prayers, confessing and praying for forgiveness with the willingness of heart to forsake our sinful ways. The sinner looses sleep and runs when no one pursues him. We can experience God’s mercy and forgiveness when we confess our sins. The Lord will forgive us and lift the heavy loads of guilt off our hearts. When we return to the Saviour in repentance, we will feel light-hearted, full of divine peace and have inexplainable joy of the Lord. Whoever covers his sins will not prosper but whoever confesses and forsakes them will find mercy of God. – (Pro 28:13). The weight of sin is heavy and unbearable. It kills the body and keeps the soul for hell fire. You must be born again in Christ to escape hell. “Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you the righteous; and shout for joy, all you that are upright in heart” – Ps 32:11. Sin is deadly, flee from it and save your soul from a fatal crush.
