CHRIST; THE PEACE OF GOD.
The Scripture says that we should not be anxious for nothing, but in everything, we should be prayerful with supplication and thanksgiving, letting our requests be made known to God; and His Peace which surpasses all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds through Jesus Christ; (Phil 4:6-7). This is the promise of God for His obedient children. Life in this world is stormy, very distressful, horribly terrific and lack of genuine peace. With Christ, the Prince of Peace, (Isa 9:6), on our side; there will be calmness with every storm silenced. Jesus said: These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world for you; (John 16:33). So, we will continue to enjoy impeccable peace of God in Christ when we allow Him to reign in our lives. Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful; (Col 3:15). When we remain abiding in the Lord; He, Himself, will give us peace always by all means; (2Thes 3:16). So, the peace of God is through Jesus Christ. If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; (Rom 10:9). When we become saved, we have the Peace of God dwelling in us.
While God’s peace is a permanent one offered through the atoning Blood of Christ; on the other hand, the peace offered by the world is empty and temporary with unfulfilled hope and comfort. Worse still; the peace of the world changes precariously with circumstances and it disappears unexpectedly when circumstances turn ugly. The worldly people proclaim peace when all things work well for them. However, they declare war when situations work against them; (Mica 3:5). Though there may arise some pressures, demands, responsibilities and some situations may, probably, go above controllable level, the Peace of God is always calm, soothing and unexplainably comfortable. The good news is that God’s peace is always sufficient for all situations. It alleviates stress in our lives and strengthens our faith in the Lord, make us remain abiding in Him with the convicting expectation of His divine intervention. The Almighty God is able to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus; (Phil 4:19). It may be difficult to live a trouble free life because the way through godly life is strenuous. It may also take walking on a tight rope to survive the daunting challenges. Perhaps a relatively small and manageable problem may grow up to full-blown crisis to compound issues. In all situations, we need to remember that God’s peace is impeccable, it is unexplainably soothing to the heart. With God, we are more than conquerors; (Rom 8:37).
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ; (1Thes 5:9). He, Who is in us is greater than he who is in the world; (1 John 4:4). When Christ is in us, we can have calmness and quietness inside us. If we discipline our mind to stay focused on God, we will enjoy His Peace despite the pressures and the stress-induced scenarios that come with life. The Lord will keep in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Him, because he trusts in Him. (Isa 26:3). Let it be emphasised that the concept of God’s peace does not imply the absence of trouble. It is based on His love and goodness to give us inner peace in the midst of trials, afflictions, needs, etc. “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience; (Jam 1:2-3). The covenant of peace that made us be at peace with God is through Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. Jesus said: My Peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid; (John 14:27). The kingdom of God is not about eating and drinking, but of righteousness, of peace and of joy…. ..; (Rom 14:17). So, Christ is the impeccable peace through Whom we are reconciled with the Almighty God.
