POLITICS AND CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP.

Christian leaders who engage in active political activities to the neglect of spirituality are lovers of this present world. Such leaders pretend to engage in political business to show forth the glory of God but instead, they become big time political jobbers, using their christian leadership positions for political gains. They become entangled in political issues, taking sides and meddling with the polity on worldly principles. Christian leaders that are supposed to lead others in the way of peace and prayers become judges, taking sides and apportioning blames. By so doing, they acquire political relevance with ungodly profits, always busy investing their whole time, thoughts and affections in political activities and issues. What a misleading role!
Let it be known that it is a sheer hypocrisy for a believer to parade himself as a christian leader or a Pastor and yet become too busy with the polity more than the politicians or anything else. These are leaders who preach politics on the pulpit in their churches instead of sermons premised on the gospel of heaven and christian values. They spend much time criticising governments by which they incite their followers and pitting them against the government, forgetting that leaders are ordained by God in His wisdom. If we prefer political business, why are we christian leaders, pastors and overseers? The role of abiding believers and the church is to always pray for the political leaders for God’s guidance and good governance. We are to be separated from the polity, not criticising our leaders but praying for them and for the peace of the nation, whatever the situation.
The only way our role as christians can glorify God is by not allowing the polity to separate us from His love. We are not to allow anything to separate us from the love of God. We are called for His service and not for politics. Our business is to be busy promoting the gospel work while we stand in the gap for the country in prayers. Those, whose thoughts and affections are diverted from God by involving in politics and political issues are hypocrites, who profess to know God but in works they deny Him. If your political activities are taking you away from God, please have a rethink and make necessary amends! To do anything against the Will of God is sinful. Don’t be involved in political controversies, pray for your leaders and for the peace of the nation, don’t join the multitudes to do evil but be a good follower of Christ and a genuine child of God. May the Lord rest His peace upon our nation and revive our economy.
